Your Guide to the Printing and Graphic Communication Industry

Is there a set percentage that our students should get on the safety test before being allowed to operate machinery in the lab?  PrintEd's standard is 80%.  Does Georgia DOE have a standard?  What is your standard at your school?  Is this something that we need to include in the Lesson Plans that will be posted on the CTAERN?

My students have to score 100%. At one time, I think PrintED said something about 80%, but I am not sure.
Should we put a numerical value in the Introduction to Graphics and Design unit on Health and Safety? I think some type of guideline is something that a new teacher might find useful.

Not sure if you have these already, but here is some documentation you can use.
Give these out as a booklet to your students so they can keep the info and highlight it for notes.

Develop a test and then share it with everyone to prevent duplication of effort and add consistency to GA graphic arts.

Make it open book, at least then the book gets opened.

With the safety tabs, if you use avery-brand tabs, the colors should match (yes I'm that bad).

State Contests

It would be hard for each state to match the national contest because of equipment availability and time. A lot of state contests are only one day long and during this time students have orientation, compete, debriefing and the contest must be score for a awards ceremony the same night.See More
