Your Guide to the Printing and Graphic Communication Industry
I know a number of graphic communictaion programs at the college level are facing curriculum changes to better prepare our students for the industry. At this time what is the consensus of content that is most important for employment in the printing industry?
I teach in a National Accreditated program in a small western PA state school. We are working with our local advisory board, faculty members and other departments to create a vision for our program's future. I am interested in additional outside opinion on this matter.
Here is our current plan. We intend to continue to teach a concentration of the printing processes (litho/digital/flexo/gravure/screen) along with Estimating and production as it fits the maunfacturing of print. We are considering adding additional classes (we currently require 1 business and 1 marketing) to our program. Our goal would be to create two tracks - A Bachelors of Science concentrated in Print Media (new name) with a minor in either Business or Marketing.
I would appreciate any feedback from the group.
