Georgia Camp T&I has Something for Teachers in All States

This past week, PIAG hosted Georgia graphic communications teachers for two teacher conferences, the GACTE and Camp T&I. (Don't ask me to spell out the acronyms, I'm sure I'd get it wrong.)

We began the Camp T&I portion learning to make paper with Dr. Don Armel from Georgia Southern. You can see photos of this portion in the photos section of GraphCom. On Thursday, we experimented with some new technology called Ustream. We streamed presentations from Joe Marin, PIA, Frank Romano and Georgia's own Paul Davis. In addition, we had representatives from the Georgia Department of Education talking about available grants for PrintED accreditation.

The programs were informative and interesting for those outside of Georgia as well (except perhaps for the GDOE). Seminar: http://ustre.am/4mV8
Joe Marin's presentation PDF Presentation: http://www.piag.org/MissionPossible.pdf

The later videos are better as we figured out the technology a bit more. Ustream allows you to tweet during the presentation and automatically gives the URL so folks can join in. In addition, when you save the videos, you can automatically upload them to Youtube. We didn't do that this time, but maybe the next program.

Enjoy!

Kimberly, You should be able to just go there and see it. This is the first time we've used this, so let me know if it doesn't work.

As we said last Friday, the value of Camp T&I only begins with the quality of the presenters and their presentations. One of the most valuable attributes participants take away from the conference is the camaraderie. Your program provides each of us with an opportunity to work with peers (different that fellow faculty, the majority of which have no idea what it takes to run a program like ours). We discuss concerns, brainstorm openly, and problem solve collectively. In short, Camp T&I provides us with room to grow - which is, as they say in the MasterCard commercials, "priceless." Thanks, Sue and staff, for bringing it all together! Also, thanks for continuing to explore the latest technology for getting word out to everyone, especially those who were unable to attend this year.

Kim, Here is our Flickr page. Can you upload them there? You should be able to upload photos and video. If the photos are there, PIAG can use them for our various publications and on the blog and we can also import them here.
